I am a visiting scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania and an adjunct instructor in the Department of Media Studies and Production at the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University. My research and teaching are in the areas of media industries and economics, digital media studies, journalism studies and journalism practice, media history, communication law and policy, and communication and cultural theory. My primary research interest is in understanding the business of communication and culture and analyzing the development of communication and cultural industries. My current work is focused on using the concept of the attention economy to examine these issues.

I have a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder, an M.A. in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of La Verne.
